Chuck E. Cheese Wiki
Chuck E. Live is a recurring segment at every Chuck E. Cheese location created by Gene Patrick. The segment typically features the Chuck E. Cheese walkaround coming out and dancing to a live show.

Description[]

This segment is vastly different from the showtapes and animatronic shows featuring Munch's Make Believe Band. At a certain time of day (usually after a showtape has completed its last segment), a countdown will start (currently a 5 minute countdown, with Chuck E. coming out to walk around for the last 2 minutes) and an announcer will announce the start of Chuck E. Live, and anticipate the guests into chanting his name, which initiates the arrival of the walkaround form of Chuck E. Once out, Chuck E. invites the guests to dance to a song with him. Prior to 2020, Chuck E. Live would end with a “Ticket Splash”, which involved Chuck E. and/or the other cast members throwing tickets into the air for the guests to collect. Once Chuck E. Live is over, Chuck E. will stick around for some time to pose for pictures with the guests, while the showtape starts over from the beginning.

Two forms of Chuck E. Live exist. Live Shows (introduced in 1988) take place inside the showroom, in front of the various stages (pre-remodel), or on the Chuck E. Live Stage (post-remodel). Road Shows (introduced in 2000) take place outside the showroom, in areas such as gameroom or near Kid Check, and are played via a boombox with a CD featuring several Chuck E. Live songs. Since 2008, Road Shows occurs every hour on the :00, while Live Shows occur every hour on the :30.

Initially, before the curtains were disabled for the stages as of mid-2005, the animatronic Chuck E.'s curtains would close during Chuck E. Live while the walkaround Chuck E. came out, likely to avoid causing confusion between both versions for younger guests. In the case of Turntable 1-Stages, the animatronic Chuck E. was placed on a turntable which turned around to obscure him from the stage before the walkaround came out.
