Chuck E. Cheese Legacy Stores are Chuck E. Cheese locations that received the 2.0 remodel while keeping their animatronic stages. These stores are planned to be the last locations where MMBB stages and Studio C stages will be present.

Currently, there are five legacy stores. These stores being the 2-Stage at Northridge, CA, the Studio C Beta at Nanuet, NY, the 1-Stage at Hicksville, NY, the 3-Stage at Charlotte, NC, and the CU 1-Stage at Springfield, IL.

A sixth additional legacy location is now also planned for the Willowdale, Ontario, Canada location, which houses a 2-Stage, although the plan is to move the Road Stage from the Mississauga (Dixie), Ontario, Canada location to Willowdale.

History[]

Legacy stores were created as an official response from corporate due to the backlash received by the destruction of animatronic stages during the 2.0 remodels. To stop the backlash and listen to their fans, CEC had the Northridge, CA (8425 Reseda Blvd) location keep its 2-Stage, alongside getting a Chuck E. Live Stage and Video Wall installed on the opposite side of the showroom.

CEC Corporate would state Northridge's importance by saying it was "long been visited by our fans" and "in celebration of the location's 40th anniversary", despite the location's 40th anniversary actually being 2 years prior in September 2021.

CEC also directly confirmed once every location got the 2.0 remodel, Northridge would be the only store with animatronics remaining. Along with this, they noted the Northridge location to be the permanent showcase for "all legacy Chuck E. Cheese nostalgia". CEC would redirect all comments begging CEC to keep their animatronics at their local stores, stating that Northridge was "the perfect location to keep the animatronic fun going strong".

However, in March 2024 CEC went back on that claim by creating a future planning survey. This would lead to 4 other stages to be kept as "legacy" stores, as stated by the company. Out of the 4 stages saved, 3 of them were Munch's Make Believe Band stages and 1 was a Studio C stage, bringing the total legacy stores to 5.

After celebrating the grand re-opening of all 5 legacy stores, CEC would announce that there would be no more legacy stores. However, on February 9th, 2025 CEC would retract this statement by announcing yet another legacy store. This store would be the Mississauga, Ontario, Canada location, the last location to have a Road Stage.

In May 2025 CEC announced they would no longer be saving the Missisauga, Ontario, Canada location, but instead be saving the Willowdale, Ontario, Canada location, a 2-Stage location. However, Mississauga's Road Stage would be relocated to Willowdale, replacing their 2-Stage. The reason for the relocation is Mississauga's animatronics being deemed "unsalvageable" after corporate and tech investigations. With the saving of this stage, the total Munch's Make Believe Band stages saved has reached 5 while the total Studio C stages saved remains at 1.

Store Procedure Changes[]

Legacy stores get their store procedures altered to work with an animatronic stage and a Chuck E. Live Stage + Video Wall setup. All legacy stores (minus Nanuet and Mississauga) all received exclusive grand-opening showtapes which only played on the date of that location's grand-reopening. Nanuet plays a "Throwback Thursdays" show every Thursday, which features various Avenger-era content from the 2000s. The location also received the Avenger walkaround for their grand-reopening. Showtapes played at legacy locations have the same main segments and advertisements on their Video Walls as other stores, but their intermissions are replaced with additional show segments; they are either programmed to the animatronics or not programmed at all. So far only two segments in a given showtape have this programming, alongside some live shows. The current birthday show has not been programmed yet.

During March 2025, all remaining locations with Cyberamic stages (no matter if they were already legacy stores or not) were announced to be receiving legacy store programming, meaning they will feature exclusive perks only legacy stores have, such as launchable songs. The feature is currently being tested with the Annapolis, Maryland location.[1]
