Introduction

Chuck E. Cheese's Party Games is a video game developed and published by UFO Interactive Games that features a variety of games related to Chuck E. Cheese and the band. The game released on July 27th, 2010 for the Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, and iOS devices. Chuck E. Cheese's Party Games falls under the Party genre and can be played only in single-player.

Characters

In Chuck E. Cheese's Party Games you can choose from 10 different kid characters to use as your avatar. 5 are boys and 5 are girls. Each avatar is distinct so it gives a lot of options on who you want to play as. Each selectable character also has some small facts about them when you select them. You then get to name your character what ever you want to name them. For the minigames however, you play as Chuck E. and the rest of the band.

Story

You are a young child who sees an ad for Chuck E. Cheese's on the tv one day. You want to go and ask your dad for spending money. He then asks you what happened to your spending money this week which you say you already spent. Your dad then convinces to get a summer job for some extra spending money. Then a couple of weeks later your character sees a Chuck E. Cheese's. You go inside and try to play one of the games with a normal coin. When it doesn't work you ask a staff member and they tell you that you need to pay for tokens to play the game. You are short money but the staff member offers you to make pizza for tokens and you accept.

Tutorial

The Chuck E. Cheese's Party Games tutorial starts by giving you 3 tokens, and showing you around the game. You then play the first three minigames and you run out of tokens. Chuck E. says he's out of tokens so you go to Pasqually. Pasqually tells you that you can earn tokens by making pizza's for him in Pizza Mania. After you beat it you permanently unlock Pasqually's Pizza Shop. When you leave Chuck E. tells you about the Lucky Wheel which you can play to unlock more arcade games. Once you finish playing Lucky Wheel Chuck E. shows you the Prize Shop. You are told to buy something from the Prize Shop with the tickets you currently have. When you buy something Chuck E. says to go to "My Room", which appears as a bag in the lobby after your first purchase from the Prize Shop. He tells you to interact with your prize. After you leave your room Chuck E. tells you that you finished the tutorial and the Chuck E. Cheese's Hall of Fame is unlocked.

Cut Content, Early Screenshots, & Pre-Release Content

Chuck E. Cheese's Party Games has some notable cut content as well as design changes from earlier builds.

Scrapped Online Leaderboard

Chuck E. Cheese's Party Games scrapped online leaderboard is the most well known scrapped feature as it was cut within months of the game releasing. This is because it is present in the games description. The online leaderboard would have been found in the Hall of Fame's middle section, and would display the highest scores on each minigame in the game. Some flags were made for some countries to be displayed next to the user's name on the leaderboard. These flags were the US flag, EU flag, Japanese flag, Chinese flag, and the South Korean flag. Along with these flags, connecting and error sprites can be found in the files of the game as well. These would have been used for when connecting to the internet, and if you get an error when connecting. It is unknown why the leaderboard was scrapped so late into development.

Cut Minigames

Not all minigames created for Chuck E. Cheese's Party Games made the cut in the end. In total, 3 minigames were cut from the final release. These minigames were Block Stacking, Grab Dolls, and Water Gun. Block Stacking would most likely have been like the arcade stackers. Grab Dolls would most likely have been like a claw machine. Water Gun would most likely have been like the amusement park water gun games. These minigames only have their machines left along with music and trophies. Block Stacking's music was reused for Ticket Blaster while Water Gun's music was unused. References to Block Stacking's and Water Gun's trophies are also still found in the game, but there are no assets related to these trophies in the game's files. Grab Dolls was most likely cut in early development, while Block Stacking and Water Gun were most likely cut midway through development.

Pre-Release UI Design

Chuck E. Cheese's Party Games actually had a very different UI in the pre-release trailer compared to the final UI. The files for the pre-release UI are still in the game but go unused. These differences between the pre-release UI and the final UI are the Chuck E. head, timer, high score, score, and level sprites. The Chuck E. head used in the pre-release UI is the same as the design for Chuck E. in the game while the final UI uses a Chuck E. head based on the Chuck E. Cheese Avenger Logo. The timer used in the pre-release UI is the same timer from Jasper's Racing but with only the seconds. This timer also doesn't say timer above it like the one used in the final UI. The timer, score, and level from the pre-release build all have a black and purple color theme. In the final the timer, score, level, and high score all have a cheese theme. The high score from the pre-release UI looks like cheese and has red text, which doesn't fit in well with the black and purple look of the rest of the UI. This was changed in the final to be more inline with the rest of the UI. However, this high score sprit is still used in the game as the high score sprite used on the menu screen for the minigames. The pre-release UI was scrapped very late into development.

Early Screenshots of Jasper's Racing & Made To Order

Still present in the files of Chuck E. Cheese's Party Games is 2 screenshots of early builds. The first screenshot shows an early version of Jasper's racing. This build has a very early UI design, having time, distance, speed, and tokens earned as the UI. There is also a time sprite and a plus sprite related to the game. These would have probably been power ups to help Jasper in the minigame. The second screenshot shows an early version of Made To Order. This version has a lot more food servable as well as different bells and even a drink machine. The only UI present in this screenshot is a trash bin labeled bin. These screenshots are most likely from very early development.
