Current PlayPass logo
Chuck E.'s Play Pass is a card that is the current form of currency at most Chuck E. Cheese locations. It replaced tokens and tickets as the main form of gameplay currency, though they continue to be used in some locations (mainly international.) You can get this card as either an All You Can Play card in white, or a standard one, which is usually blue.
There is an alternative to the play pass, known as Chuck E.'s Play Band.
History[]
The Play Pass concept originally began its life as "Chuck E.'s Token Card", a concept that was tested and promptly removed in the mid-2000s due to a lack of popularity by the public. However, during the 2010s Chuck E. Cheese wanted to save money and modernize, so they created Chuck E.'s Play Pass. While the decision to switch from tokens to a card-based currency was better for the company, it has been a source of criticism by consumers, especially when physical tickets stopped being accepted at stores.
How to Use[]
To use the card, one must first visit a card recharging booth and follow the onscreen instructions, purchasing the card if receiving it for the first time, and adding points to the card to access the arcade games. Cards can also be first purchased over the counter. In addition, guests can purchase minutes for the cards, allowing them to access the games with unlimited points for a chosen time limit. In the case the card has a time limit on it, the players should pause the card prior to leaving the restaurant before the time limit expires. Games are activated by placing either side of the card against a tap sensor unit on the front of the game console.
